All 26 episodes of the Hell Girl anime are coming to IFC!

Most episodes are one shoters about someone getting their comeuppance. If someone submits your name to the revenge website, your number is up! This little series spawned a DS game and a live action TV show I wouldn’t recommend, but all in all from what I’ve seen an anime worth checking out.

These aren’t autonomous robots, of course (so begone, you Terminator nightmares, at least for now). They’re standard-issue remote-controlled machines like Foster-Miller’s low-to-the-ground Talon, which has been put to good use in dangerous places for less-aggressive duties such as finding and neutralizing roadside bombs. That means a human operator well versed in the rules of engagement would make the actual decision on whether to shoot.

Talon…”begone, you Terminator nightmares“, says you! Where’s the microchip hidden…when do they do away with the first law, why are we showing them how to pull the trigger!

I get worried when my first person shooter adversary in my consoles games learns the virtue of patience. No more waiting for them to calm down and walk causually around the corner as if they didn’t hear the explosion. If they can do it in Half Life 2, we’re only a half-skip away from bleeding out while hearing Flight of the Conchords play the exit music.

This allows me to segue into the new Bionic Woman, which premiers on Wednesday, September 26th. While certainly more high budget than something you might see on Sci-Fi, they’ve done an effective job of at least convincing me to watch the pilot, as they’ve marketed heavily to my demographic. They were at the comic-con, they’re all over the internet, they’re on the pre-previews at the theater. I get it. Bionic Woman is coming out…chill out with the marketing dollars.

Kidding aside…hug your children. It’s all over.

nbc-heroes.jpgI suppose I’ll restrict this simply as an editorial; an examination of things to come.

After an enjoyable few months here, where I was able to wipe the sleep from my eyes, and venture out into the sun to attempt to remedy my pale complexion, September has again rolled around. The significance? Why, that little divot roughly in the shape of my rear in the couch that’s been struggling to heal is now going to be retrained for thorough use.

TV has come back…and apparently with a vengeance. The cable shows have been holding me over in the mean time are winding to an end, and the HD big boys are coming out to play. More big screen players are moving to the small screen as Television shows look upward and onward beyond the traditional sitcom and crime drama. Production costs go up, viewership does up, the audience gets smarter, and accordingly, TV gets better. Let me list the ways.

  • Hot off of the heels of the DVD release, Heroes is back with it’s second season, including the miniseries Heroes: Origins. I don’t care what you say, I like the show…there’s a special place in my heart for a well done “comic book” story.
  • While the first 3 episodes of the new season may have been leaked to the internet, I’ve held back…and waiting for the real thing. Dexter also begins its second season.
  • Pushing Daisies - probably one of the more creative show concepts I’ve seen.
  • Damn it, I like House.
  • Damn it, I like 24…mixed feelings, however, about Ms. Garofalo in the new season.

And the quick wrap up of the others: CSI, Scrubs, the Office, Criminal Minds (sans Mandy Patinkin now). I know I’m missing quite a few, but that’s what the comments are for…

I know season 1 of Heroes has just ended, but info on Season 2 has already began leaking. *image is Hiro and the Dinosaur, a painting by fictional character Isaac Mendez. The name of the painting is unofficial.
